Sasha Bucur

Sasha played water polo at all levels in USA and Romania.  In the States he played for New York Athletic Club prior to moving to California to attend USC’s graduate school.  Sasha spent 12 years in three separate graduate degrees and during that time he assisted USC Water Polo collegiate teams (men and women).  He continue to play at masters’ level, including a couple years with Harvard Foundation with Harvard Westlake own Olympic coach, Rich Corso. As a coach Sasha was on USC teams that finish consistently in the top 3 highlighted by two-time NCAA champion and four times NCAA runner-up.  The teams’ collective winning average during that time was above 70%.  During his years at USC Sasha supported Jovan Vavic, the most successful collegiate water polo coach in USA.  Sasha brings those teachings and desire to learn to our Premier staff. Since 2008 Sasha has spent time coaching water polo age group programs (Rose Bowl, United, LA Premier).  He won JOs with LA Premier 14s in 2016.  He coached teams at JOs since 2009 with each team improving over prior year’s results. Beside water polo coaching, Sasha has coached young age teams in soccer, basketball, and baseball.  The cross-sport coaching provides experience of how to teach kids tactics and technique at their comprehension level.  Finally, Sasha was an assistant coach for USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program from 2014 to 2016.
